WCoZ Cluster System

A Thematic Cluster is a group of WCoZ members working in the same thematic area who undertake to work together by meeting regularly, sharing information and strategies, undertaking and supporting lobbying and advocacy activities.

Background to WCoZ Clusters
WCoZ held its Strategic Plan Review Meeting Retreat from the 16th to the 18th of June 2010 in Nyanga. The main objective of the meeting was to review the WCoZ Strategic Plan that was made in 2008 in line with the changing external environment in Zimbabwe. The other objectives were to align the strategic plan with and make it more responsive to the current transitional environment with contributions from WCoZ membership. During the strategic plan review meeting membership recommended the formation of thematic clusters to improve lobbying and advocacy, creation of strategic partnerships, networking and information sharing and coordination of membership..
What is a Cluster?
A Thematic Cluster is a group of WCoZ members working in the same thematic area who undertake to work together by meeting regularly, sharing information and strategies, undertaking and supporting lobbying and advocacy activities. This is bound to strengthen responses on issues affecting women. The current members meetings usually bring all membership together and sometimes issues being discussed can be irrelevant for some organisations. However thematic clusters discuss issues that are relevant and useful for each member organisation attending and this is more a more beneficial use of time. Clusters commit to work to improve the rights of Zimbabwean women which is the vision of WCoZ.
