About WCoZ

about us

WCoZ is a national membership based network of women rights activists and women’s organizations.

It is a forum where women meet to engage in collective activism on issues affecting women and girls in Zimbabwe. WCoZ’s central role is to provide a focal point for activism on women and girl’s rights. WCoZ brings females from diverse backgrounds to collectively advocate for the attainment and enjoyment of their rights.

WCoZ’s individual and organizational members work in diverse fields and are grouped into nine thematic clusters. These include health, legal and constitutional rights, education, gender based violence, economic empowerment, peace building, environment, media and ICT, politics and decision making.

At regional and international level, WCoZ is the focal point of SADC Gender Protocol Alliance, member of African Feminist Forum, FEMNET, AWID, SADC NGO network, the Zimbabwe Feminist Forum and GIMAC and locally in the mainstream civil society, WCoZ is member and Chair of the Women and Gender committee for NANGO, ZESN, Crisis Coalition of Zimbabwe, Zimbabwe Sustainable Development Goals Civil Society Reference Group, Zimbabwe Joint Partnership for Gender Equality Steering Committee, Zimbabwe Peace and Security Zimbabwe Peace Project among others. As a result of its strategic positioning and function in the women’s movement, WCoZ is represented and participates actively in many district and national level coordinating bodies.
